What a Complete Certificate Typically Includes

A certificate of analysis, at minimum, is expected to report a testing method, a result, a date, and an identifier tying that result to a specific production batch. For peptides, that usually means high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) purity, often paired with mass spectrometry for identity confirmation, plus a lot or batch number and the date the sample was tested. Some certificates add endotoxin results, residual solvent data, or the name of the testing laboratory itself.

None of these elements is universal. A certificate can be technically real and still omit half of this list, and a listing can display a certificate without making clear whether it corresponds to the vial being sold or to a reference batch from an earlier production run.

Questions Worth Asking of Any Certificate

Is there a test date, and is it recent relative to the listing? Does the certificate report both purity and identity, or purity alone?

None of these questions requires specialized equipment to answer. They require reading the certificate against the listing and against the vial itself, and noticing where the two do or do not line up.
